Event Etiquette and Code of Conduct

When swing dance meets jazz, dance steps become a wordless conversation. Swing dance events create a space for genuine connection through music and movement.

To provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants, and to foster a friendly, inclusive, respectful and supportive environment, all participants, including dancers, staff, instructors and partners, are expected to follow this code of conduct and etiquette.

Dance Floor Etiquette & Attire

Invite politely. Respect others if they decline; declining is okay, and no one should feel pressured.
Respect personal boundaries. If your partner feels uncomfortable with certain moves or overly close positions, adjust your connection and steps immediately and communicate politely.
Pay attention to your partner. If they seem unwell or tired, ask whether they need a rest and stop dancing.
Stay aware of surrounding dancers. Apologize sincerely if collisions or stepping occur. For serious incidents, leave the dance floor at once, check on the person involved, and seek first aid from staff.
No aerial moves during social dancing. You may remind or stop such behavior if seen.
For safety and comfort, please do not wear stiletto heels.
Dress appropriately and neatly. Bring extra clothes to change if needed.
Do not judge or comment on others’ dance styles, clothing or appearance. Be mindful of language that may disturb others.

Photography Guidelines

Do not film, share or post others’ photos or videos without permission. Recording a dance requires your partner’s consent.
No flash photography. You shine brighter than the lights on the dance floor.
Do not use event music or dance videos for commercial purposes. Unauthorized full livestreaming or commercial recording of band performances and competitions is prohibited.
This event is organized by Nanjing Jazz Dance Studio. Intellectual property rights of specially commissioned music, choreography and materials belong to the organizer as agreed. Participants own their copyrights, but registration grants the organizer a free license for event promotion.

Venue Care

Protect the floor. No food or drinks on the dance floor; dispose of trash properly. Takeaway food and drinks are prohibited from entering the venue.
Place personal belongings in designated areas and keep valuables safe.
No smoking indoors. Smoke only in designated outdoor areas and do not litter cigarette butts.

Zero-Tolerance Policy

NLF2026 has zero tolerance for illegal, rule-breaking or inappropriate behavior, including but not limited to:

Political or sensitive remarks that may cause division or discomfort.
Verbal harassment or offensive language.
Unwanted physical contact and sexual advances.
Unauthorized persistent filming, hidden photography or other serious invasions of privacy and portrait rights.
Any act illegal under PRC law, including physical violence or compulsory indecency. The organizer will report serious cases to police and cooperate with judicial investigations.

Policy Scope

This policy applies to all online and offline event-related settings. The organizer reserves the right to enforce zero tolerance and activate response procedures for violations in any scenario.

Addressing Discomfort

Harassment and offense can be subtle. If you feel uncomfortable, you may wonder whether you are being too sensitive, whether it is just a joke, whether speaking up will ruin the mood, or whether it will hurt someone’s feelings.

Remember: No Means No. We encourage you to speak up promptly when uncomfortable. Direct and sincere communication can resolve conflicts. For issues you cannot handle alone, seek help immediately. Once you seek our assistance, the following procedure will be initiated immediately.

Response Procedures

The NLF Team will provide full support to those seeking help at once. We will take action based on investigation results and, while protecting privacy and with your consent, publish outcomes to the community when appropriate.

Possible Measures

If the organizer finds harassment, rule-breaking, illegality or misconduct, one or more measures will be taken, including but not limited to:

Verbal warning.
Required public apology to the affected party.
Immediate termination of participation with no refund.
Reporting to police with full evidence for serious cases.
Other appropriate measures.

Portrait Rights Authorization

You acknowledge and agree that the organizer and partner media may film and use images containing your likeness for event promotion. Participation grants the organizer a free, non-exclusive license for online promotion. Notify us in advance if you wish to opt out.

Rights Statement, Risk Warning & Disclaimer

Registration for NLF2026 constitutes consent for Nanjing Jazz Dance Studio to use photos, videos and images containing your likeness for official event coverage, reviews and community sharing without further notice.
The organizer owns full rights to official event recordings. Participants own their copyrights, but registration grants the organizer a free promotional license.
Participants must assess their own health and confirm fitness to join. Any illness or injury during the event is at your own risk, releasing organizers and non-negligent co-participants from liability.
Purchasing personal accident insurance covering swing dance activities is strongly recommended.
Registration confirms you have read, understood and agreed to all terms, including rights authorization, risk assumption, zero-tolerance policy, response procedures and liability disclaimer.

We hope all participants work together to enjoy the dance floor and music safely and joyfully.
